Tim Casten, Director of Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold, USA was a refreshing
speaker. His witty jokes entertain the crowd. Grasberg Mine He mentioned that
the 1600 men/shift that works on Grasberg equates to the entire Disney world
workforce standard. Its a massive scale he is talking about. Grasberg is
currently upgrading its current operations, also known as brownfield project,
scaling it up for more production. In a nutshell, Freeport McMoRan value drivers
are: 1) Success of pre-production development and construction 2) Ability to
ramp-up to full production (bearing in mind the limitations on construction and
project financing etc.)
