The commission found that customers got busy signals when seeking emergency dispatchers. As Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) is the sole provider of 911 services in Maryland, about 8,300 customers in Montgomery and 1,700 customers in Prince George's could not reach the 911 centers. Sandra Arnette, Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) spokeswoman, said, "We will continue to work with the 911 centers and others to ensure that callers receive the level of service they deserve and expect when they dial 911".
