Weapon permits are on the rise and in a parallel fashion, so is the legal sale and distribution of guns. Americans are beginning to exercise their right to legally carry handguns and weapon dealers are seeing an incline in the handgun business. Holster sales are on the rise according to one business owner in Iowa. He reports that holster sales are on the rise because many of the Americans that already legally owned a firearm are deciding to gain legal access to carry the firearm, thus requiring the holsters. In addition, the Johnson Iowa sheriff reported that over 500 permits to carry handguns were legally distributed in the county last year and that in January of this year alone that many have been issued. As President Obama issues a call for better background checks on gun sales, more and more people are entering the market. The news and media attention given to violent shootings across our nation often results with an influx of people looking to legally purchase firearms for their own safety. For example, after the shootings in Arizona, one business owner reports that business for semi-automatic pistols doubled. Congress is also rumored to be debating stiffer state and federal gun laws now and these potential restrictions have Americans buying now before the potential restrictions become law.
