rt.com The US has recently announced the discovery of nearly $1 trillion worth of mineral deposits in Afghanistan, but did the US know about them in 2007? A 2007 United States geological survey indicated that Afghanistan is one of the worlds’ biggest depositories of minerals and precious metals. These include iron, copper, gold, and others. In fact, Afghanistan may be the “Saudi Arabia of lithium,” reported the New York Times.
