The Boeing Company ( NYSE:BA ) announced the receipt of the first phase of a contract from the U.S. Air Force to replace its aging fleet of 400 KC-135 refueling tankers. As per the contract, the company has to supply 18 next generation aerial refueling tanker aircraft by 2017. The total contract includes the supply of 179 refueling tankers, valued at about $35.0 billion, with the initial phase having a potential of about $3.5 billion. The KC-46A tankers will be built by a skilled U.S. work force at existing Boeing facilities. The new KC-46A tankers are expected to be a widebody aircraft with sophisticated technology that includes a digital flight deck featuring Boeing 787 Dreamliner displays and a flight control design that gives more prominence to aircrews than to computer software. It will also have increased fuel offload rate. The Boeing Company stock is currently trading at $73.04. The stock is up 3.18% from its previous close. General Motors Company ( NYSE:GM ) reported a profit of $510 million in the fourth quarter, following its emergence from bankruptcy due to a recovery in the sales of its brands in the U.S. and other global markets. The company reported fourth quarter net income of $510 million or $0.31 per share as compared to loss of $3.52 billion for the comparable period in 2009. The results for the fourth quarter of 2010 included net charges of $400 million or $0.21 per share as a result of the previously disclosed $0.7 billion loss on the purchase of U.S. Treasury preferred shares, which was partially offset by the impact of EBIT adjustments of approximately $0.3 billion. The company’s fourth-quarter revenue reported was $36.9 billion. The total segmental operating earnings was $903 million in the quarter. The company produced 2.27 million vehicles in this quarter as compared to total production volume of 1.92 million vehicles in comparable period 2009. The company sold 2.17 million vehicles in this quarter. For the first full year, GM earned $4.67 billion or $2.89 per share, with revenues totaling $135.6 billion. Segmental operating earnings reached $7.19 billion in 2010. General Motors stock is currently trading at $33.96. The stock is up 2.87% from its previous close. General Motors shares touched the high of $34.20 and lowest price in today's session is $33.60. The company stock's beta is 1.37. The company stock traded in the range of $32.05 and $39.48 during the past 52 weeks. The company's market cap is $50.94 billion. American International Group Inc. ( NYSE:AIG ) reported a surge in its profit for the fourth quarter due to the gains on the sale of its businesses.
