Weekly News Roundup: Raytheon (NYSE:RTN) Monday 3 January Raytheon (NYSE:RTN) has received a $52 Million U.S. Navy contract to Retrofit Radars. Naval Air Systems Command has awarded a $52 million contract to Raytheon (NYSE:RTN) company to produce APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars for F/A-18 Super Hornet tactical aircraft. These AESA radars provide the U.S. Navy with the most advanced technology available, including enhanced capabilities that allow aircrews to detect and identify targets beyond the reach of most missiles. This long-range capability allows more time to process, share, and assess information before critical decisions are made. Raytheon (NYSE:RTN) said that the work for this program will be completed at Raytheon (NYSE:RTN) facilities in El Segundo, Calif.; Andover, Mass.; Forest, Miss.; and Dallas. The Deliveries are expected to begin in October 2012. Friday 7 January Raytheon (NYSE:RTN)’s Andover facility has been named Industry Week's ‘Best Plant’. Industry Week magazine has named Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) Company’s Integrated Air Defense Center in Andover, Mass., one of its “Best Plants” for 2010. The annual competition evaluates manufacturing facilities in multiple categories, including quality, on-time delivery, worker safety and focus on continuous improvement, which will increase competitiveness and customer satisfaction. Dan Ryan, vice president of Operations and Integrated Supply Chain at Raytheon (NYSE:RTN) Integrated Defense Systems said that, “Continuous improvement is an on-going journey for us. Our philosophy is everybody, everyday – ideas from across all areas of the operation are essential for us to continue to increase our efficiency and capacity while maintaining our quality.” We’ll be keeping a close eye on the Raytheon stock level for developments over the next few weeks.
