This joint venture moving one step closer to China to guarantee stocks and bonds in China’s growing financial markets. Lawrence Lam, head of Greater China for Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc (LON:RBS) said that bank’s contract with Wuxi-based Guolian Securities allows six months to set up the venture. Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc (LON:RBS) Chairman Philip Hampton added that RBS did not require new capital since the Basel III rules, a position the company marked in its quarterly report. BHP Billiton plc (LON:BLT) BHP Billiton plc (LON:BLT) has announced  the cancellation of joint venture with Rio Tinto. The plan to develop a joint undertaking was called off by both companies. Marius Kloppers, the chief executive officer of BHP Billiton plc (LON:BLT) said that "The large synergies from combining our Western Australian iron ore assets with Rio Tinto's have caused us to persevere in seeking to obtain regulatory approvals. However, it has become clear that this transaction is unlikely to obtain the necessary approvals to allow the deal to close, and as a result, both parties have reluctantly agreed to terminate the agreement." GlaxoSmithKline plc (LON:GSK) Report says that GlaxoSmithKline plc (LON:GSK) has planned to build world's largest Solar Array. It is said that pharmaceutical giant has plans to build eco-friendly energy for its growing power needs. As part of the new strategy of going green, GlaxoSmithKline plc (LON:GSK) has already started the construction of a rooftop array at the distribution centre in the Pennsylvania city, York. The project is expected to be completed by the end of December 2010.
