Biotech Stocks Alert! (DNDN, MRX, JAZZ)

Dendreon Corporation (NASDAQ:DNDN) dropped 4.15% to $35.07. This week, the company posted a net loss of $79.3 million, or 56 cents per share, compared with a loss of $45.6 million, or 40 cents per share, a year ago. Excluding a litigation charge, Dendreon lost 47 cents a share for the quarter. Analysts on average expected a loss of 44 cents, according to Thomson Reuters. The company reported selling, general and administrative expenses rose to $74.1 million in the third quarter from $9.3 million in the year ago period. Over the past 52-week, the stock had traded within the range of $25.05-$57.67 and is up more than 32% year-to-date. Medicis Pharmaceutical Corporation (NYSE:MRX) fell 5.33% to $28.77. This week, the company announced revenues of approximately $177.3 million for the three months ended September 30, 2010, compared to revenues of approximately $151.8 million for the three months ended September 30, 2009, which represents an increase of approximately $25.5 million, or approximately 16.8%. The stock opened at $29.25 and has a 52-week range of $21.02-$30.94. In the past one month of trading sessions, the stock went down more than 3%. Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:JAZZ) went up 15.16% to $14.28. The company said it earned 41 cents a share on an adjusted basis on revenue of $44.8 million in its third quarter, topped analysts' estimates of 34 cents a share on revenue of $42.6 million. For the current fiscal year, the company projected to have $1.45-$1.50 a share in earnings, up from prior view of $1.05-$1.15 a share, well ahead of analysts' estimates of $1.15 a share. Over the past one month of trading sessions, the stock went up more than 38%.
