Financial aid packages are used by the majority. The national unemployment rate recently notched a tenth of a percent lower, but it is still above average overall. Additional funding for school is necessary for many Americans. The current economy is still trying to build itself up and work its way out of the recessive tendencies from several years back. While the economy is still in this transition process, people are struggling to pay bills. Tuition rates are on the rise nationally and paying for college is becoming increasingly difficult. Receiving subsidized loans is key for many Americans. The subsidized loans allow individuals to take out loans that do not accrue interest during the time spent earning the education. Just recently, the U.S. government considered the possibility of removing subsidized students loans as a means of aid. The reasoning behind the considered removal related to a national debt reduction action plan. Instead, the government raised the national debt ceiling. Losers in this compromise though were graduate students and professional learners. The deal made by the government will no longer allow graduate students to receive subsidized loans.
