dow2664 Stock Market DJIA, Nasdaq, S&P 500 Trending News Today: So far this week, the primary stock indices in the U.S. have been supported. The Dow Jones, as well as the Nasdaq and S&P 500, have been moving positively this year so far. A batch of positively skewed global economic reports helped to support the indices on Tuesday, and yesterday, details of the support for the International Monetary Fund helped to give indices a boost as well. On Friday of last week, anxiety levels were running high as nine eurozone nations received credit downgrades via S&P ratings. The backlash this week has been minimal however. Primary stock indicators throughout the eurozone finished positive last session. The DAX in Germany closed higher by .34 percent and the FTSE 100 in the U.K. closed higher by .15 percent as well. Indices received a boost, in part, via the well received news that the International Monetary Fund would attempt to increase its bailout fund for the eurozone. This news spilled over into the U.S. trading session and helped give stocks a boost there as well. Hone based economic data in the U.S. was indifferent at best. The Feds released data showing that the industrial production rose just .4 percent in December. Also, producer prices fell .1 percent in December. Ultimately, the primary stock composites in the United States finished green across the board. Dow Jones Industrial Average, Nasdaq and S&P 500 Close: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed the last session higher by .78 percent at 12,578.95. The Nasdaq finished the last session higher by 1.53 percent at 2,769.71. The S&P 500 closed out the last session green by 1.11 percent at 1,308.04. Noteworthy gains were made in tech, bank and housing stock sectors and this positive action helped to push stocks to their best finish in months. The Dow finished with its best close since last July.
